Type Locality and Naming

Lithology and Thickness
Claystone. Essentially an argillaceous sequence, it is black to greyish-black in color, hard, compact, micaceous, fissile, and splits into pieces with planar surfaces. Towards the bottom, it consists of a white to dirty white, fine-grained, well-sorted quartzitic sandstone. Its thickness is 240 m.

Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Unconformable with crystalline Basement.
Upper contact
Unconformable with the Kommugudem Fm.
Regional extent
This formation is present in the Mandapeta subbasin.
